Re: Glenn Roeder RIP
He did well to get so much time after having a brain tumour, not many do. RIP GR and thoughts are with his family,

The wonder of medical science bought him an additional twenty years. It's quite remarkable that he returned to top flight management after his initial diagnosis and operation.

Re: Glenn Roeder RIP
Took us down with a great squad but don't hate the guy for that, not really important in the grand scheme of things. Lots of stories coming out showing him to be a decent human being which is more important to me so very sad to hear the news. He did well to get so much time after having a brain tumour, not many do. RIP GR and thoughts are with his family,

Very sad, never really took to him, he was also Gazza's son's Godfather.

Re: Glenn Roeder RIP
It would also seem from the many tributes that any of his former players or team-mates whose initials weren't PDC thought the world of him.

Re: Glenn Roeder RIP
A lot of people saying he weren't cut out for PL management. Maybe so, but I'm sure that not many people realise that out of the 15 or so managers that Newcastle have had in the Premier League era, only Keegan and Robson had a better win rate than Roeder in his 18 months as manager there.

Re: Glenn Roeder RIP
From people that met him the word "gentleman" is always used and that has to be one, if not the highest , honour you can give anyone IMO. It is sad in this day to go at age 65 ( 20 years short of the average life expectancy) but on the other hand he had brain tumour surgery and treatment back when he was with us and arguably got a lot of years with his family after that which he may have seen as a bonus? I say that based on a mate we lost last year who got an inoperable tumour at 41 ( wife and 2 kids) had a blitz of radiation and chemo and lived another 6 - 7 years but was completely at peace with that and actually felt lucky to see his kids grow up to young adult age. Perspective can be different once you come to terms with it I suppose ?

Anyway RIP to Glenn Roeder.
